    Description

This interesting original postcard is NOT a photo. It is a half tone print made from a photo. This card shows "Yodelin" Slim Clark" the Country music musician. His name is spelled "Clarke" on the card which is incorrect. Raymond Leroy Clark became a professional musician at the early age of 15.
As a young man he also played minor league professional baseball in Massachusetts for the Blackstone Valley League. Also, at one point, he tried out to be a pitcher for the Boston Braves but was not accepted onto the team.
In 1947 he won a yodeling championship & was inducted into the Yodeler's Hall of Fame. For over 60 years he sung & yodeled authentic cowboy songs. He is represented on the sidewalk of the stars walkway at the Country Music Hall of Fame. After his death he was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
The card measures 5 1/2 inches by 3 3/8 inches. The back of the postcard has a brown stain. Otherwise the card is near mint/mint condition. The pics clearly show the condition.
This card is from a collection of items connected with country music performers. The collection was put together by Bessie Auten from approximately 1942 to 1955 when she worked at the Radio Corral near Williamsport, Pa. Radio Corral was a series of outdoor weekend country music performances run by Jim and Jane Claar in the forties and by Dean and Bob McNett in the fifties. Many country music legends of the time performed at Radio Corral. The Claars and then later the McNetts also produced radio programs of country music.
